England Netball and Liverpool are delighted to have been awarded the rights to host the 2019 Netball World Cup following an announcement from the International Netball Federation earlier today.
The tournament will be staged at ACC Liverpool, a venue which has warmly welcomed England at international level on several occasions, the most famous of which saw the host nation lift their first ever major silverware following a World Netball Series victory in 2011.
This will be only the third time that England has hosted the competition in its 56-year history. Previous locations include Birmingham in 1995 and the very first staging of the tournament in Eastbourne, 1963.
On Saturday 31st January and Sunday 1st February 2015 Schools from across the Region descended at Northumbria Universities Sport Central to take part in the Regional Schools Competition. After qualifying in their respective County Competitions the schools were now competing to represent the North East at the National Schools Finals taking place on Saturday 14th March in Ellesmere Port, Merseyside.
The National Schools Competition is the biggest schools competition in the netball calendar. The Competition consists of three age groups; U14, U16 and U19 and is a highly competitive event.
The Under 16’s were the first age group to get underway on Saturday morning and after playing some fantastic netball Durham High School for Girls finished in 1st Place with Yarm School finishing runners up. Click Here to download the U16 Results.
The Under 14’s were next to take centre stage on Saturday afternoon, with the standard remaining high and some close matches. In this age group Newcastle High School for Girls finished in 1st Place with English Martyrs School finishing runners up. Click Here to download the U14 Results.
On Sunday morning a number of now tired and bleary eyed teachers and officials returned again for the final age group, the Under 19’s. Once again the standard of netball did not fail to disappoint with the spectators and officials witnessing some incredible netball giving them the inspiration and spirit they needed to complete the day. Congratulations go to Newcastle High School for Girls who finished 1st and Ponteland who finished runners up in this age group.

Good luck to all the schools travelling to the National Finals.
